A children's book for grown-ups by Jon Evans

Welcome! Beasts of New York is a free online novel by award-winning author Jon Evans. A physical edition will be published by the prestigious literary press The Porcupine's Quill in spring 2011, but there's no need to wait; you can read it in its entirety right here and now, for free.

Praise for my previous work:

"Evans can write." - The Washington Post

"Thought-provoking ... Invisible Armies is an intriguing, pacy read, and Mr Evans shows great potential." - The Economist

"You're hooked ... the characters are delightfully delineated ... beautifully controlled ... (a) pacy thriller for the 21st century." - The Times (London) on Dark Places / Trail of the Dead

"A fantastic read." - Booklist on The Blood Price

I usually write international thrillers, but Beasts of New York is very different: it's an epic urban fantasy about the wildlife of New York City, starring a squirrel protagonist who has to find his way from exile back to his home in Central Park, rescue his mother, and win a war.
